Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Broken door latch hook, Loose wiring at door lock, Misaligned door strike
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before any disassembly.
This error usually indicates the control does not detect the door as closed.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Make sure no laundry is trapped in the door seal and that the door clicks when closing.
- Inspect the door latch and strike: Look for a broken plastic latch on the door or bent metal/plastic strike on the cabinet. If damaged, replace the latch/strike kit.
- Test the door switch: With power disconnected, remove the top panel (usually rear screws) and access the door switch wiring. Check that the connector is fully seated. Use a multimeter to test continuity of the door switch when the button is pressed; replace if open.
- Check harness: Inspect the wiring harness from the door switch to the main control module for pinched or broken wires.
If the error persists after replacing the door switch and latch, the main control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a professional.
