Possible Causes
Open heating element, Burned heater terminals, Tripped high-limit thermostat, Loose wiring in heater circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the rear of the dryer.
- Access heater assembly: Remove the rear panel to expose the heater housing. Identify the heating element terminals and thermostats.
- Check wiring and terminals: Inspect for burnt connectors, discolored wires, or loose spade terminals. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Test heating element: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the element terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check thermostats and thermal cutoffs: Test each thermostat and thermal fuse for continuity. Replace any open safety device, and also correct the underlying cause (blocked airflow, lint buildup).
After replacing components, clean lint from the heater housing and exhaust path to prevent repeat failures.
