Possible Causes
Faulty Start button or touchpad, Child lock function activated, Defective user interface PCB, Broken wire between UI and main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the control panel.
Steps:
- 1. Check for child lock: Refer to the user manual for the key combination to toggle child lock (often pressing and holding two buttons). Disable it and try again.
- 2. Try different programs: Select another program and press Start to rule out a specific program issue.
- 3. Inspect Start button: Remove the control panel fascia and check the Start button or touchpad for mechanical damage. For membrane switches, test continuity when pressed.
- 4. Check UI-to-main board cable: Reseat the ribbon cable or harness between the user interface and main control board.
Note: If the Start command is not recognized despite good wiring and button, the user interface board may need replacement.
