Possible Causes
Burned-out heating element, Tripped high-limit thermostat, Open cycling thermostat, Loose heater wiring connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before accessing the heater.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm symptom: Run the dryer for 5–10 minutes on a high heat program. Open the door and feel inside; if the air is cold, proceed with checks.
- 2. Access heater assembly: Remove the rear panel to expose the heater housing. Identify the heater terminals and thermostats.
- 3. Test components: With a multimeter, check continuity of the heating element, high-limit thermostat, and cycling thermostat. Replace any open component.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Tighten loose spade connectors and replace any burnt terminals or wires.
Note: If the high-limit thermostat has failed, also check for airflow restrictions that may have caused overheating.
