Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC temperature sensor, Loose or corroded NTC connector, Damaged wiring between NTC and control board, Faulty main control board temperature input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains power before removing any panels.
Steps to diagnose:
- 1. Locate the NTC sensor: On Brandt vented dryers, the NTC is usually mounted on the exhaust duct or heater housing at the rear. On condenser/heat pump models, it may be on the air channel near the condenser or on the drum outlet.
- 2. Visual inspection: Check for lint buildup around the sensor, burnt marks, or broken plastic housing. Clean lint carefully with a soft brush.
- 3. Test the NTC: Disconnect the NTC connector. Measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature (typically 5–20 kΩ depending on model). If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty and must be replaced.
- 4. Check wiring: Follow the harness from the NTC to the control board. Look for cuts, burns, or loose pins. Reseat the connector on the control board.
- 5. Power up and test: Reassemble, restore power, and run a warm program. If E02 returns with a new sensor and good wiring, the control board may be defective.
Note: Always use the correct Brandt NTC part specified for your model; resistance curves differ between sensors.
