Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Heating components can remain hot after use; allow to cool before touching.
Diagnostic steps:
- 1. Access the heater assembly: On many Brandt dryers, the heater is located at the rear behind the back panel. Remove the rear panel screws and carefully lift off.
- 2. Inspect visually: Look for broken heater coils, burnt connectors, or discolored wiring. Check the thermal cut-out and thermostats mounted on the heater housing.
- 3. Test continuity: With a multimeter, test the heating element terminals for continuity. If open, replace the heater assembly. Test the thermal cut-out and thermostats; any open device at room temperature (unless it is a resettable type with a button) should be replaced.
- 4. Check wiring and connectors: Tighten any loose spade connectors and replace any burnt terminals. Ensure the heater harness is firmly connected to the control board.
- 5. Control board check: If the heater and thermostats are good but there is still no heat and E03 persists, the heater relay or triac on the control board may be faulty. This typically requires board replacement.
Important: If a thermal cut-out has tripped, also check for blocked vents, clogged lint filter, or obstructed condenser (on condenser models) that may have caused overheating.
