Possible Causes

Broken or slipped drive belt, Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Drum jam due to foreign object, Defective motor control circuit on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before opening any panels.

Checks:

  • 1. Verify drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If it is jammed, inspect the front door seal area and rear bearing for trapped items (e.g., bra wires, coins).
  • 2. Inspect the drive belt: Remove the top panel and look at the belt on top of the drum. If the belt is loose, broken, or off the motor pulley, it must be refitted or replaced.
  • 3. Access motor and pulley: Remove the side or rear panel to see the motor pulley and idler tensioner. Ensure the belt is correctly routed around the idler and motor pulley.
  • 4. Tachometer sensor: Some Brandt motors have an integrated tachometer (speed sensor). Check the small connector on the motor for secure fit and intact wiring. If the control does not detect rotation despite the drum turning, the tachometer or control board may be faulty.

Tip: If the belt repeatedly comes off, inspect the drum support rollers or rear bearing for wear causing misalignment.
