Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum support rollers, Worn motor pulley, Obstructed drum (item jammed between drum and cabinet)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing any panels.
- Check drum movement: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. If it spins very freely with no resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is jammed, there may be an obstruction.
- Inspect the belt: Remove the top and rear panels to view the belt around the drum and motor pulley. Replace the belt if broken or badly worn. Ensure correct routing over any idler pulleys.
- Look for obstructions: Check the gap between the drum and front/rear panels for trapped clothing or objects. Remove any foreign items carefully.
- Check support rollers and bearings: Rotate the drum while observing the rear support rollers or bearing. Replace any seized or noisy rollers to prevent future belt failure.
