Possible Causes

Failed drum drive motor, Open or weak motor start capacitor, Broken or slipped drive belt, Faulty motor relay on main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains before removing any panels.

  • Listen for motor attempt: When you press start (briefly reconnect power to test), if you hear a low hum but the drum does not turn, the motor or capacitor may be faulty. Disconnect power again before continuing.
  • Check the drive belt: Remove the top cover and rear panel (if accessible) to inspect the belt around the drum and motor pulley. If the belt is broken or off the pulley, replace it and ensure correct routing and tension.
  • Inspect the motor capacitor: On many Bush dryers, a cylindrical capacitor is mounted near the motor. Look for bulging, leaking, or burn marks. Test capacitance with a meter if available. Replace if out of spec or visibly damaged.
  • Spin the drum by hand: With power off, rotate the drum from inside. It should turn smoothly. If it is stiff or seized, the motor bearings or drum support components may be failing, overloading the motor.
  • Check motor wiring and connector: Ensure the motor plug is fully seated and wires are not burnt or loose. Repair any damaged connectors.
  • If E02 remains: The motor relay or triac on the main control PCB may be defective. This usually requires PCB repair or replacement by a qualified technician.
