Possible Causes
Open-circuit or shorted NTC thermistor on heater housing, Loose or corroded NTC connector, Damaged wiring harness between NTC and control board, Faulty main control PCB temperature input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before working near the heater assembly.
- Locate the NTC sensor: On Bush dryers, the NTC is usually mounted on or near the heater housing or air duct (rear or side of the drum). Remove the rear panel to access it.
- Inspect wiring and connector: Check the NTC plug for secure fit, corrosion, or heat damage. Clean contacts and reseat the connector firmly.
- Test the NTC with a multimeter: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Typical values are between 5–20 kΩ depending on model. If it reads open (infinite) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty and should be replaced.
- Check harness continuity: If the NTC tests good, check continuity from the NTC connector back to the control PCB. Repair any broken or high-resistance wires.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing or reconnecting the NTC, reassemble the rear panel, plug in the dryer, and run a warm cycle to confirm that E04 is cleared and heating is restored.
- If E04 persists: The temperature sensing circuit on the main control PCB may be defective, requiring board repair or replacement by a technician.
