Bush dryer shows E05 and does not heat or stops shortly after starting a heated cycle.

Safety first: Disconnect from mains and wait for the heater area to cool before touching any components.

• Access the heater assembly: Remove the rear panel to expose the heater housing on the back of the drum. Identify the heating element terminals and thermal cut-outs.
• Check for visible damage: Look for burnt connectors, broken heater coils, or discoloured wiring. Replace any damaged connectors and ensure tight, clean connections.
• Test the heating element: Disconnect the element terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
• Test thermal cut-outs: Many Bush dryers have one or two thermostats/thermal fuses on the heater housing. Test each for continuity. If any are open and non-resettable, replace them. If a resettable thermostat has a small button, press it to reset (only after confirming the cause of overheating, such as blocked airflow).
• Inspect airflow path: Blocked filters or ducts can cause overheating and trip the TCO. Clean the lint filter, condenser (if fitted), and internal ducts thoroughly.
• Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts, reassemble the dryer, plug it in, and run a test cycle. If E05 returns, the heater relay or control PCB may be faulty and require professional attention.
