Possible Causes

Damp clothes left in drum, Lint and moisture buildup, Poor ventilation, Residue from fabric softeners

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before deep cleaning.

  • Air out the drum: Leave the door open between uses to allow the drum to dry.
  • Clean drum interior: Wipe the drum with a solution of mild detergent and warm water, then with a mixture of white vinegar and water. Dry thoroughly.
  • Clean lint filter housing: Remove the lint filter and vacuum the housing to remove lint and debris.
  • Run a hot cycle: Run the dryer empty on high heat for 20–30 minutes to help kill residual odor-causing organisms.
  • Improve ventilation: Ensure the exhaust vent is clear and properly installed to prevent moisture buildup.
