Possible Causes
Restricted airflow, Failing drive motor overheating, Lint buildup around motor, Weak motor start winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before internal cleaning or inspection.
- Clean airflow path: Clean the lint filter, exhaust vent, and blower housing to ensure proper airflow.
- Inspect motor area: Remove the front and/or rear panels to access the motor. Vacuum lint from around the motor and blower.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If it is hard to turn, inspect and replace worn rollers or idler pulley to reduce motor load.
- Test motor: If the dryer consistently stops after running for a while and restarts only after cooling, the motor's internal overload may be tripping. Replacement of the drive motor is often required.
- Reassemble and test: After cleaning and any part replacement, run a test cycle and monitor for mid-cycle shutdown.
