Possible Causes
Blown thermal fuse on blower housing, Severely restricted exhaust vent, Failed high-limit thermostat, Lint buildup in internal ducting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Heating components can remain hot after shutdown.
- Check external venting: Go outside and verify that the wall vent hood opens freely and has strong airflow when the dryer runs (if it will run). Clean any lint, bird nests, or obstructions.
- Inspect vent hose: Pull the dryer away from the wall. Make sure the flexible duct is not crushed, kinked, or excessively long. Clean out lint with a vacuum or vent brush.
- Access thermal fuse: Remove the rear panel to access the blower housing on Café dryers. Locate the small, usually white or metal, thermal fuse mounted to the housing.
- Test the fuse: Disconnect the wires and test the fuse with a multimeter for continuity. If it is open (no continuity), replace it. Do not bypass the fuse.
- Check high-limit thermostat: While the rear panel is off, test the high-limit thermostat on the heater housing for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open.
- Clean internal lint: Vacuum lint from the blower housing, internal ducts, and heater shroud.
- After replacement: Reassemble, restore power, and run a timed dry cycle on medium heat. Monitor for normal operation and ensure good airflow at the exterior vent.
