Possible Causes
Open electric heating element, Failed gas igniter (for gas models), Faulty cycling thermostat, Loose or burned heater wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. For gas Café dryers, also shut off the gas supply at the shutoff valve.
- Confirm no heat: Run the dryer on a high heat cycle for 5–10 minutes and check if the drum is warm inside. If not, proceed with checks.
- Access heater assembly: On most Café electric dryers, remove the rear panel to access the heater housing. For gas models, remove the front lower access panel to reach the burner assembly.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burned or loose connectors at the heater terminals or gas burner harness. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
- Test heating element (electric): Disconnect the element leads and measure resistance across the element terminals. A typical reading is 8–20 Ω. If it is open (infinite resistance), replace the heating element assembly.
- Test igniter (gas): For gas dryers, visually inspect the igniter for cracks. Measure resistance (usually 50–400 Ω depending on model). Replace if open or visibly damaged.
- Check thermostats: Test the cycling thermostat and high-limit thermostat on the heater housing for continuity at room temperature. Replace any that are open.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall panels, restore power (and gas if applicable), and run a test cycle. Verify that the dryer now heats properly.
