Possible Causes

Failed drive motor, Seized drum rollers or idler pulley, Obstructed blower wheel, Loose motor harness connection

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing any panels. Moving parts can cause injury.

  • Check drum movement: With the dryer off, open the door and manually rotate the drum. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If it is very hard to turn or grinds, suspect roller or idler issues.
  • Access drive system: Remove the top panel and front panel to expose the drum, belt, and motor assembly.
  • Inspect belt and idler: Verify the belt is intact and properly routed over the idler pulley and motor pulley. Spin the idler pulley by hand; replace it if it squeals, binds, or wobbles.
  • Check drum rollers: Rotate each rear drum roller by hand. Replace any that are flat-spotted, noisy, or seized.
  • Inspect blower wheel: From the front or rear (depending on model), check the blower wheel for foreign objects (socks, debris) and ensure it spins freely on the motor shaft.
  • Test motor: Inspect the motor harness connector; reseat it firmly. If the motor hums but will not start, or trips the overload repeatedly, the motor may need replacement.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing any seized components, reassemble the dryer, restore power, and run a test cycle to confirm E05 is cleared.
