E06
Café
Moisture Sensor Circuit Fault
Dryer runs but time remaining does not change correctly; E06 appears on some Café sensor-dry models

Possible Causes
Contaminated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor harness, Failed moisture sensor, Faulty control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal wiring. Basic cleaning can be done with power off and door open.
- Clean sensor bars: Locate the two metal moisture sensor bars inside the drum, usually near the lint filter housing. Using a soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol or mild detergent, thoroughly clean the bars to remove dryer sheet residue and fabric softener film.
- Inspect for damage: Check the bars for cracks or heavy corrosion. Replace the moisture sensor assembly if damaged.
- Check wiring: Remove the top/front panel as needed to access the back of the sensor bars. Ensure the harness is firmly connected and not broken.
- Test sensor continuity: Disconnect the harness and measure resistance across the sensor terminals while bridging the bars with a damp cloth. You should see a change in resistance. If the circuit remains open, replace the sensor assembly.
- Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are good but E06 persists, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may require replacement by a technician.
- Use timed dry as workaround: Until repaired, use timed dry cycles instead of sensor dry to avoid erratic cycle times.
