Possible Causes
Failed heater relay on main control board, Shorted heating element, Shorted wiring to heater, Damaged control board traces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. For gas models, also shut off gas supply. Do not continue using the dryer if you smelled burning previously.
- Inspect heater wiring: Remove the rear panel and inspect the heating element terminals and wiring harness for signs of burning, melting, or shorting to the cabinet. Repair or replace damaged wires.
- Test heating element: Disconnect the element and measure resistance to the cabinet (ground). There should be no continuity. If the element is shorted to ground, replace the heating element assembly.
- Access main control board: Remove the top panel and control cover to access the main PCB. Locate the heater relay.
- Visual check: Look for burnt spots, cracked solder joints, or melted relay housing. If present, replace the main control board.
- Professional service: Because this involves high-current circuits and potential fire risk, if you are not experienced with appliance electronics, contact a qualified Café service technician for board diagnosis and replacement.
