Possible Causes
Heavy lint buildup on heater element, Blocked airflow causing heater to overheat, Foreign object (plastic, rubber) contacting heater or drum, Failing motor emitting burnt smell
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Immediate action: Turn off and unplug the dryer immediately. Do not continue using it until inspected.
Inspection:
- Remove the lint filter and check for lint accumulation in the filter housing.
- Access the heater housing from the rear and carefully vacuum lint from around the heater (do not damage the element).
- Inspect the drum and seals for melted plastic items or rubber that may have contacted hot surfaces.
- Smell near the motor area; a strong electrical burning odor may indicate motor failure.
If the smell persists after thorough cleaning and no obvious cause is found, have the dryer inspected by a qualified technician before further use due to fire risk.
