Possible Causes
Dry or worn idler pulley bearing, Worn drum rear bearing, Glazed or misaligned drive belt, Lack of lubrication on bearing surfaces (where applicable)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer.
Diagnosis:
- Remove the top cover and run the drum by hand to localize the squeal.
- Inspect the idler pulley for wobble or rough rotation.
- Check the rear bearing for dryness or scoring.
Repair:
- Replace the idler pulley if noisy or seized.
- Replace the rear bearing kit if worn (some designs are not lubricated and must be replaced, not greased).
- Fit a new belt if cracked or glazed.
Reassemble and test. Persistent squealing after part replacement may indicate misalignment and should be corrected.
