Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from the mains. Capacitors can hold charge; discharge safely if removed.
Basic checks:
- Check drum rotation by hand: With the door open, rotate the drum. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance from the belt. If seized or very stiff, suspect a jammed drum or motor bearing issue.
- Inspect the drive belt: Remove the top cover and rear panel (if accessible). Confirm the belt is intact and correctly seated on the motor pulley and drum.
- Examine motor wiring: Look for burnt connectors or loose plugs at the motor and at the main PCB.
- Test the motor capacitor: On models with a start/run capacitor, visually inspect for bulging or leakage. Test capacitance with a meter and replace if out of spec.
- Brush inspection (if applicable): On older Candy dryers with brushed motors, remove the motor and check carbon brushes for wear (shorter than ~1 cm). Replace as a set if worn.
Re-test: Reassemble, restore power, and run a timed cycle. If E02 returns and the motor does not attempt to start, the motor or control board may require professional diagnosis.
