Possible Causes

Tripped manual-reset high-limit thermostat on heater, Blocked lint filter or condenser (on condenser/heat pump models), Blocked or crushed exhaust duct (vented models), Failed or stuck heater relay on control board causing overheat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer and let it cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not reset thermostats until the root cause of overheating is addressed.

Airflow and lint checks:

  • Clean the lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the filter with warm water and a soft brush. Dry completely before refitting.
  • Check condenser unit: On Candy condenser/heat pump dryers, remove the condenser at the bottom front and rinse out lint and debris. Allow to dry.
  • Inspect vent hose: For vented models, ensure the hose is not kinked, crushed, or blocked with lint. Clean or replace if necessary.

Thermostat reset:

  • Access the rear heater housing. Locate the manual-reset thermostat (often a small round device with a red button).
  • Press the reset button gently until you feel a click.
  • If it immediately trips again during use, stop and investigate airflow and heater control issues.

When to call a pro: If the thermostat repeatedly trips or the heater stays on continuously, the control board or heater relay may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
