Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter, Blocked condenser or heat exchanger (on condenser/heat pump models), Blocked or crushed exhaust duct (on vented models), Failed cycling thermostat or thermal cut-out on heater housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from the mains before cleaning internal components or accessing thermostats.
- Clean the lint filter: Remove the lint filter from the door opening. Thoroughly clean off all lint with your fingers or a soft brush. Rinse and dry if heavily clogged.
- Clean condenser/heat exchanger (if fitted): On Caple condenser and heat pump dryers, open the lower front flap and remove the condenser unit. Rinse it under warm running water until all lint and debris are cleared. Allow it to drain and dry before refitting.
- Check air ducts and vents: For vented models, inspect the exhaust hose and wall vent for kinks, crushing, or lint build-up. Clean or replace the hose if blocked. Ensure the external vent flap opens freely.
- Inspect thermostats and thermal cut-outs: With the rear panel removed, locate the thermostats and thermal cut-out on the heater housing. Check for signs of overheating or damage. Some thermal cut-outs are manual reset (small red button); press to reset if tripped. If it trips repeatedly, investigate airflow and heater faults.
- Test thermostats: Use a multimeter to check continuity across the cycling thermostat and thermal cut-out. Replace any open-circuit device with the correct Caple-specified part.
- Power reset: After cleaning and checks, reconnect power and run an empty warm cycle to confirm E02 is cleared.
