Dryer does not heat; E04 appears on the display after a short time.

Safety first: Isolate the appliance from the mains supply before removing panels or testing components.

• Check for basic heating: Run a short cycle and feel for warm air at the drum or vent. If completely cold, proceed with electrical checks.
• Inspect heater wiring: Remove the rear panel to access the heater assembly. Look for burnt connectors, discoloured wires, or loose terminals. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
• Test the heating element: Disconnect the heater terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical element will show a finite resistance (e.g. 20–40 Ω). If it is open-circuit, replace the heater assembly.
• Check thermal fuse / cut-out: Many Caple dryers have a one-shot thermal fuse in series with the heater. Test for continuity; if open, replace it and investigate airflow issues that may have caused overheating.
• Inspect the control board relay: If the heater and fuses test good, the heater relay on the main control PCB may be stuck open or burnt. Look for heat damage on the PCB. Replacement of the PCB is usually required and should be done by a qualified technician.
• Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty parts, reassemble the dryer, restore power, and run a heating cycle to confirm E04 is cleared.
