Possible Causes
Severely blocked lint filter, Blocked condenser unit or heat exchanger, Blocked internal air channels, Blocked or crushed vent hose on vented models
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the dryer. Allow it to cool completely if it feels hot or smells of burning.
- Clean the lint filter thoroughly: Remove all visible lint. Wash the filter with warm soapy water if it is coated with fabric softener residue, then dry completely before refitting.
- Clean the condenser/heat exchanger: On Caple condenser and heat pump dryers, open the lower front access panel, remove the condenser, and flush it with warm water from both sides until water runs clear. Remove any lint from the housing.
- Inspect internal ducts: If accessible, remove the rear or side panel and check the air channels from the drum to the heater and condenser for lint build-up. Vacuum out any debris.
- Check vent hose (vented models): Ensure the hose is not kinked, crushed, or blocked with lint. Clean or replace the hose and check the external vent flap for free movement.
- Reset and test: After cleaning, reconnect power and run an empty cycle. Monitor for normal airflow and verify that E05 does not reappear.
