Possible Causes
Blocked blower wheel with lint or debris, Failed circulation fan motor, Loose fan wiring connector, Faulty fan driver circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains power before removing panels or accessing the fan.
- Access the fan assembly: On Caple heat pump and condenser dryers, the circulation fan is usually located near the condenser or heat pump unit. Remove the rear or side panel as required.
- Inspect for blockage: Check the blower wheel for lint build-up, socks, or other obstructions. Carefully remove any debris without bending the blades.
- Check fan rotation: Spin the fan by hand; it should rotate freely without grinding noises. If stiff or noisy, the fan motor or bearings may be failing.
- Verify wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is secure and the harness is intact.
- Test fan motor: Measure resistance across the motor windings and compare with specifications. Replace the fan motor assembly if open or shorted.
- Re-test: After cleaning or replacing the fan, reassemble and run a cycle. If E12 persists with a known-good fan, the PCB fan driver circuit may be defective.
