Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized idler pulley, Seized drum support roller, Overloaded drum causing belt slip
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the top or front panel. The drum is heavy; support it when removing the belt.
- Try rotating drum by hand: With the door open, attempt to turn the drum. If it turns very easily with no resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff, rollers or idler may be seized.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the top and front panels to access the drum. Replace the drum drive belt if broken, frayed, or off the pulleys.
- Check idler pulley and rollers: Spin the idler pulley and each drum roller. Replace any that are noisy, wobbly, or seized.
- Reassemble and test: Route the new belt correctly around the motor pulley and idler as per the belt diagram. Reassemble panels and test operation.
