How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately stop the dryer, unplug it, and do not use it again until the cause is found. If you see flames or heavy smoke, call emergency services.
- Inspect lint filter and housing: Remove all lint from the filter and the cavity around it.
- Check exhaust duct: Disconnect and thoroughly clean the exhaust hose and wall vent to restore airflow.
- Inspect heater area: Remove the rear panel and inspect the heater housing for lint accumulation or foreign objects. Clean carefully with a vacuum.
- Check motor: Smell near the motor area. If the burning smell is strongest there and the motor is very hot, the drive motor may be failing and should be replaced.
- Test run under supervision: After cleaning, run a short cycle while monitoring closely. If smell persists, discontinue use and contact a technician.
