Possible Causes
Stuck heater relay, Failed cycling thermostat stuck closed, Blocked exhaust reducing airflow, Faulty NTC temperature sensor reading low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop using the dryer until the overheating issue is resolved to avoid fire risk. Unplug before inspection.
- Clean airflow: Ensure lint filter, exhaust duct, and condenser (if present) are clean and unobstructed.
- Test cycling thermostat: Access the thermostat on the heater housing or exhaust duct. Test for continuity at room temperature and compare to specifications. Replace if stuck closed or out of range.
- Check NTC sensor: Measure the resistance of the drum or exhaust NTC sensor. Replace if readings are incorrect.
- Control board relay: If sensors and thermostats are good, the heater relay on the main PCB may be stuck on. Board replacement is required and should be done by a technician.
