Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose motor connector, Damaged motor harness, Defective motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the motor compartment. Be cautious of sharp edges and heavy components.
- Access motor: Remove the rear or side panel to reach the drive motor. Locate the small tachometer sensor or integrated connector on the motor.
- Check connections: Ensure the motor plug is fully seated and that no pins are corroded or burnt. Inspect the harness for chafing or breaks.
- Spin test: Rotate the drum by hand and listen for scraping or grinding that might indicate mechanical drag affecting speed feedback.
- Tachometer test: If accessible, test the tachometer coil resistance with a multimeter (refer to service data). Replace the motor assembly or tachometer if readings are out of range.
- Control board: If the motor and wiring are good, the motor drive circuit on the main PCB may be faulty. This requires board replacement by a technician.
