Possible Causes
Shorted heater element to chassis, Shorted motor winding, Damaged wiring harness causing short, Faulty power supply section on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and do not reset the breaker repeatedly without finding the cause. Risk of fire or electric shock.
- Visual inspection: Remove rear and side panels to inspect wiring for burn marks, melted insulation, or loose connections.
- Test heater to ground: Disconnect the heating element and measure resistance between each terminal and the metal chassis. Any continuity indicates a shorted element that must be replaced.
- Check motor windings: Disconnect the motor and measure winding resistance. Very low resistance or continuity to ground suggests a shorted motor.
- Inspect harness: Follow the main harness from the power entry to the heater and motor. Repair or replace any damaged sections.
- PCB power section: If all loads test good, the power supply on the main PCB may be faulty. Board replacement is recommended and should be done by a professional.
