Possible Causes

Worn or jammed drum support rollers, Seized idler pulley, Overloaded drum, Weak drive motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Do not force the drum while the motor is energized.

  • Check drum rotation: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very stiff or grinds, internal support components may be seized.
  • Reduce load: Remove some items and try again. Overloading can prevent the motor from starting the drum.
  • Inspect rollers and idler: Remove the front panel and lift the drum out. Spin the drum support rollers and idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, flat-spotted, or seized.
  • Evaluate motor: If the drum turns freely but the motor only hums and does not start, the drive motor may be weak and require replacement.
