Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter and vents, Worn motor bearings, Restricted internal airflow, Failing drive motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool before working near the motor or heater.
- Improve airflow: Clean the lint filter, exhaust hose, and wall vent thoroughly to reduce heat buildup.
- Inspect motor area: Remove the rear or front panel and vacuum lint from around the drive motor and blower housing.
- Check motor bearings: With the belt removed, spin the motor shaft by hand. If it feels rough, stiff, or noisy, the motor is likely overheating and should be replaced.
- Monitor operation: After cleaning, run a test cycle with a small load. If the dryer still stops and restarts only after cooling, replace the drive motor.
