Possible Causes

Clogged lint filter, Blocked exhaust duct or wall vent, Failed or tripped high-limit thermostat, Blocked condenser unit (on condenser/heat pump models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Surfaces may be hot; allow the unit to cool before working on it.

  • Clean the lint filter: Remove the lint filter from the door opening or top panel. Thoroughly clean off all lint. Wash with warm soapy water if it is coated with fabric softener residue, then dry completely.
  • Inspect the exhaust hose: Pull the dryer away from the wall. Disconnect the flexible exhaust hose from the dryer and the wall. Check for lint buildup, crushed sections, or kinks. Clean the hose or replace it if damaged.
  • Check the wall vent: Go outside and inspect the wall vent flap. Ensure it opens freely and is not blocked by lint, nests, or debris. Clean thoroughly.
  • Condenser/heat pump models: If your Essentials dryer is condenser-type, remove the condenser unit (usually behind a lower front flap). Rinse it under running water to remove lint and dust, then let it drain and dry before reinstalling.
  • Reset or replace thermostats: With the back panel removed, locate the high-limit thermostat and thermal cut-out on the heater housing. Some have a small reset button; press gently if present. If the cut-out is non-resettable and open (no continuity), replace it and correct any airflow issues before running the dryer again.
