Possible Causes

Burned-out heating element, Open thermal cut-out on heater housing, Loose or burned heater wiring connectors, Faulty heater relay on main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the rear panel or heater assembly. Heating components can retain heat.

  • Verify no heat: Run the dryer on a high heat cycle for 5–10 minutes. If the drum turns but the air inside stays cold, proceed with heater checks.
  • Access the heater assembly: Remove the rear panel. Locate the heater housing (usually a metal canister or box). Note the wiring and take a photo for reference.
  • Check thermal cut-out and thermostats: Using a multimeter, test the thermal cut-out and any thermostats on the heater housing for continuity. Replace any that are open.
  • Test the heating element: Disconnect the element terminals and measure resistance across the element. An open circuit indicates a failed heating element that must be replaced.
  • Inspect wiring and connectors: Look for burned spade terminals or discolored wires at the heater and on the main control PCB heater relay. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
  • If all components test good: The heater relay or triac on the main control PCB may be faulty. Board replacement is typically required and is best handled by a technician.
