Possible Causes
Failed motor tachometer sensor, Loose tachometer connector at motor, Damaged motor harness, Faulty main control PCB tach input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. The motor area contains moving parts and live wiring when powered.
- Access the motor: Remove the rear or front panel to expose the drive motor. Locate the small tachometer connector or sensor at the rear of the motor.
- Check connections: Ensure the tachometer plug is firmly seated and that wires are not pulled, pinched, or broken.
- Inspect for debris: Remove any lint or debris around the motor shaft and tach sensor that could interfere with speed sensing.
- Test tach sensor (if possible): With a meter set to AC voltage, carefully (and only if you are qualified) measure the small voltage generated by the tach sensor while the motor is spinning. If no signal is present, replace the drive motor assembly (tach is often integrated).
- Control board check: If the motor and tach wiring are good, the tach input on the main control PCB may be defective.
