Possible Causes
Failed motor start capacitor, Seized motor bearings, Jammed blower wheel, Overloaded drum
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer immediately to avoid overheating the motor.
- Check for drum obstruction: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is difficult to move, inspect for foreign objects or jammed rollers.
- Access motor and blower: Remove the rear or side panel. Inspect the blower wheel for lint clumps or objects preventing rotation.
- Test capacitor: Discharge the capacitor safely, then remove and test it with a capacitance meter. Replace if out of specification or swollen.
- Check motor shaft: Spin the motor shaft by hand. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be seized and the motor should be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts and clearing obstructions, reassemble and run a test cycle.
