How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately stop the dryer, unplug it, and if necessary, turn off the circuit breaker. Do not continue using the dryer until the cause is found and corrected.

  • Inspect lint filter and housing: Remove the lint filter and clean it. Use a vacuum with a narrow nozzle to clean deep inside the lint housing.
  • Check exhaust duct: Disconnect and thoroughly clean the exhaust hose and wall vent. Remove all lint buildup.
  • Inspect heater area: Remove the rear panel and inspect around the heater housing for lint clumps or foreign objects. Clean thoroughly.
  • Check motor: Smell near the motor area. If the motor has a strong burnt odor or shows discoloration, it may be overheating and should be tested and possibly replaced.
  • Test run under supervision: After cleaning, run a short cycle while monitoring closely. If the smell persists, discontinue use and contact a technician.
