Worn drum support rollers, Dry or worn idler pulley, Worn drum front glides or felt, Misaligned drum
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Wear gloves to protect against sharp metal edges.
- Isolate the noise: Run the dryer briefly (if safe) to identify whether the noise comes from the front, rear, or bottom.
- Access drum supports: Remove the top and front panels to expose the drum, rollers, and idler pulley.
- Inspect rollers and idler: Spin each roller and the idler pulley by hand. Replace any that squeal, wobble, or feel rough.
- Check front glides/felt: Inspect the front drum support glides or felt ring for wear or missing sections. Replace if worn through.
- Lubrication: Use only manufacturer-approved lubricant on metal shafts if specified; many rollers are self-lubricating and should not be oiled.
