Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module, Defective main PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before touching internal wiring. Avoid using abrasive tools on sensor bars.
- Locate moisture sensors: On many Fagor dryers, two metal sensor bars are located inside the drum near the lint filter or on the front bulkhead.
- Clean sensor bars: Wipe the bars with a cloth dampened with white vinegar or isopropyl alcohol to remove fabric softener and detergent residues. For stubborn buildup, use a non-abrasive scouring pad.
- Inspect wiring: From inside the cabinet (front panel removed), trace the wires from the sensor bars to the control board. Check for broken connectors or damaged insulation.
- Continuity test: Disconnect the sensor harness and test continuity from each bar to its connector pin. Repair or replace any open wiring.
- Run a timed cycle test: If the dryer works normally on timed cycles but fails on automatic sensor cycles, the moisture sensor circuit or PCB is likely at fault. Replace the sensor assembly first; if the issue persists, the PCB may need replacement.
