Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Worn idler pulley, Seized drum support roller, Misaligned drum
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. The drum and internal components are heavy; support panels properly when removed.
- Check drum movement: Open the door and try to spin the drum by hand. If it spins freely with little resistance and the motor can be heard running, the belt is likely broken.
- Access belt: Remove the top panel and then the front panel to expose the drum. Inspect the belt around the drum and motor pulley.
- Replace belt if broken: Remove the old belt. Loop the new belt around the drum following the original path, then route it around the motor pulley and idler pulley according to the belt routing diagram (often on the cabinet).
- Inspect rollers and idler: Spin the drum support rollers and idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, wobbly, or seized.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the front and top panels, restore power, and run a test cycle to confirm proper drum rotation.
