Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter, Blocked internal lint duct, Crushed or clogged exhaust hose, Blocked external wall vent flap
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disconnecting the vent hose or opening panels. Lint is flammable—avoid open flames.
- 1. Clean lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter with warm soapy water if coated with fabric softener residue. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- 2. Inspect vent hose: Pull the dryer away from the wall and disconnect the exhaust hose. Check for lint buildup, kinks, or crushing. Clean or replace the hose as needed.
- 3. Check wall vent: Go outside and inspect the wall vent. Ensure the flap opens freely and is not blocked by lint, nests, or debris. Clean thoroughly.
- 4. Internal duct cleaning: Remove the rear panel and clean the internal lint duct and blower housing with a vacuum and soft brush.
- 5. Test airflow: With the hose disconnected, briefly run the dryer and feel for strong airflow at the outlet. Weak airflow indicates an internal blockage or blower issue.
- 6. Reconnect and test: Reconnect the vent, ensuring a short, straight run where possible. Run a load and verify improved drying times.
