Possible Causes
Stuck or shorted touch keys, Moisture ingress into control panel, Damaged touch sensor PCB, Loose ribbon cable to main control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the control panel. Avoid using liquids directly on the electronics.
- 1. Power cycle: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then restore and test. If E16 returns, continue.
- 2. Inspect panel surface: Check for signs of liquid spills or condensation on the control panel. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
- 3. Access touch PCB: Remove the top cover and then the control panel to access the touch sensor PCB and ribbon cable.
- 4. Reseat ribbon cable: Carefully disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable between the touch panel and main control, ensuring it is fully seated and not damaged.
- 5. Check for physical damage: Inspect the touch PCB for cracks, burn marks, or corrosion. Replace if damaged.
- 6. Replace touch panel: If specific keys are unresponsive or always active, replace the entire touch panel assembly with a Fisher & Paykel-compatible part.
