Possible Causes
Faulty door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Loose wiring to door switch on Fisher & Paykel front panel harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working around the door switch or control panel.
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and latches. Look for damage to the door strike or latch area.
- 2. Listen for click: Slowly close the door and listen for a distinct click from the door switch. No click may indicate a failed or misaligned switch.
- 3. Access door switch: Remove the front panel or control panel trim (model dependent) to access the door switch assembly.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Check the door switch connector and harness for loose or damaged wires. Reseat the connector.
- 5. Test switch: Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter. The switch should show continuity when the door is closed and open circuit when the door is open.
- 6. Replace if faulty: If the switch does not operate correctly, replace it with a Fisher & Paykel-compatible door switch or door lock assembly.
- 7. Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and start a cycle to confirm E6 is cleared and the dryer runs normally.
