Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum roller or idler pulley, Faulty motor pulley, Belt off track due to worn support components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing any panels. The drum and motor can move suddenly.
- 1. Check drum movement: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. If it spins freely with no resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff, a roller or idler may be seized.
- 2. Access belt and drum: Remove the top and front panels to expose the drum. Inspect the drive belt around the drum and motor pulley.
- 3. Inspect belt: Look for breaks, fraying, glazing, or stretching. If the belt is off the pulleys or broken, it must be replaced.
- 4. Check support components: Spin drum rollers and idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, wobbly, or seized. Ensure the idler spring is intact and providing proper tension.
- 5. Install new belt: Fit a Fisher & Paykel-compatible drive belt around the drum and route it correctly around the motor pulley and idler pulley according to the service diagram.
- 6. Reassemble and test: Reinstall panels, restore power, and run a test cycle to confirm the drum rotates smoothly and E7 is cleared.
