Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between user interface and main control, Failed user interface PCB, Corroded control connectors, Faulty main control module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the control panel. Static discharge can damage electronics—ground yourself before touching boards.

  • 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then restore and test. If E9 returns, continue.
  • 2. Access control panel: Remove the top cover and then the control panel screws to access the user interface board and wiring.
  • 3. Inspect connections: Check the ribbon cable and harness connectors between the user interface and main control. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • 4. Check for corrosion or damage: Look for signs of moisture, corrosion, or burned components on the user interface PCB. Replace if damaged.
  • 5. Test operation: With panels still off but all connectors secure, restore power and carefully test button response (avoid touching live terminals). If E9 persists, the main control may be faulty.
  • 6. Replace faulty board: Replace the user interface board first if symptoms point to panel issues. If no change, replace the main control module with a Fisher & Paykel-compatible board.
  • 7. Reassemble: After successful testing, disconnect power again, reassemble the cabinet, then restore power for normal use.
