Possible Causes
Restricted exhaust vent, Lint buildup in blower housing, Faulty moisture sensor bars, Failed exhaust thermistor or temperature sensing circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before cleaning internal components or accessing wiring.
- Check load and settings:
- Ensure you are not overloading the dryer.
- Verify the correct cycle is selected (e.g., not Air Fluff for heavy wet loads).
- Clean lint filter and housing:
- Remove and clean the lint filter.
- Use a vacuum with a crevice tool to clean inside the lint filter housing.
- Inspect and clean exhaust vent:
- Disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and wall.
- Use a vent brush to remove lint from the hose and wall duct.
- Ensure the outside vent hood opens fully and is not blocked.
- Clean moisture sensor bars:
- Locate the two metal sensor bars inside the drum (usually near the lint filter opening).
- Clean them with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol to remove dryer sheet residue.
- Test run:
- Run a timed dry cycle with a normal load and check if E4A returns.
- Further checks:
- If the problem persists, test the exhaust thermistor and moisture sensor wiring with a multimeter and replace faulty components.
