Possible Causes
Shorted thermistor, Thermistor wires shorted together, Moisture or corrosion at thermistor connector, Failed main control board sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before testing the thermistor or wiring.
- Locate thermistor:
- Usually on the blower housing or exhaust duct.
- Inspect connector:
- Look for moisture, corrosion, or lint packed around the connector.
- Clean and dry the area thoroughly.
- Test thermistor:
- Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature.
- A very low resistance (near 0Ω) indicates a shorted thermistor; replace it.
- Check wiring:
- Inspect the harness for pinched or rubbed-through insulation causing a short.
- Replace control if needed:
- If thermistor and wiring are good, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and require replacement.
