Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum roller, Seized idler pulley, Weak drive motor unable to start under load
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer before opening the cabinet.
- Check drum rotation:
- Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand.
- If it spins freely, the belt may be broken; if very stiff, a roller or idler may be seized.
- Inspect belt:
- Remove the front panel.
- Check if the belt is broken or off the motor pulley and idler.
- Replace the belt if damaged.
- Check rollers and idler:
- Spin each roller and the idler pulley by hand.
- Replace any that are stiff, noisy, or seized.
- Evaluate motor:
- If belt and supports are good but the motor only hums and will not start, replace the drive motor.
