Frigidaire dryer drum turns but there is a loud squealing or screeching noise during operation.

Safety First: Unplug the dryer before disassembly.

• Isolate the noise:
  • Run the dryer briefly and listen to determine if the noise is from the front, rear, or bottom.
• Inspect drum supports:
  • Remove the front panel and drum (note belt routing).
  • Spin each drum roller by hand; they should turn smoothly and quietly.
  • Replace any rollers that wobble, are flat-spotted, or squeal.
• Check idler pulley:
  • Spin the idler pulley; if noisy or rough, replace it.
• Inspect front glides:
  • Check the front drum glides (felt or plastic pads) for wear through to the metal.
  • Replace worn glides and the felt seal if damaged.
• Lubrication:
  • Do not use oil or grease on rollers or idler; they are designed to run dry. Replace rather than lubricate.
